At Rosario YFC, performance monitoring has become an important part of how the club approaches coaching, player development and injury prevention.
By introducing STATSports athlete monitoring technology this season, Head coach Chris Morgan and assistant coach Neil McGaughey, have been able to combine traditional on pitch observation with objective performance data to better support players and guide training decisions.

Supporting Modern and Data Driven Coaching
For Rosario FC, the introduction of performance tracking has helped bring an additional level of detail to the coaching process.
The technology allows staff to reinforce the feedback they provide during training sessions with objective data that players can clearly understand.
“Coaching has become so scientific in many ways and this just gives us another little edge. We’ve introduced it this season and we certainly feel we’ve benefited from it.”
The system provides players with measurable insights into their performances, helping them better understand the demands of training and competition.
Rather than relying solely on verbal feedback, coaches can now show players exactly where improvements can be made and what areas they should focus on in future sessions.
“If you want evidence to back up what you’re saying to players and if your players are keen to learn, you’re able to give them extra information on top of all the other stuff that you can do pitch wise.”

Encouraging Player Accountability and Development
One of the key benefits of performance tracking at Rosario FC has been the way it encourages players to take greater ownership of their development.
When players receive their performance data after matches or training sessions, it often motivates them to reflect on their own output and look for ways to improve.
“When you get your stats back on Tuesday and they’re maybe not at the level that you expected, you certainly prepare yourself better for the Thursday session and push yourself that wee bit further.”
By making performance data visible and measurable, the coaching staff believe the system helps remove uncertainty around effort levels during training.
“As a player you always know yourself, could you have worked harder. You can cheat and you can hide at times. With STATSports we can remove that element out and it certainly proved to be beneficial for us.”
This transparency helps foster a culture of accountability while encouraging players to continually push their own performance levels.

Managing Training Load and Mitigating Injury Risk
Beyond performance analysis, the system has also played an important role in helping Rosario FC monitor player workloads more effectively.
Last season the club experienced a higher number of hamstring injuries, particularly towards the later stages of the campaign.
In response, the coaching staff began to focus more closely on the running loads players were experiencing during games and training.
“Last year we would have had a lot of hamstring injuries, we were very conscious of the load that our players ran during games.”
Using the data collected through STATSports, the staff were able to adjust training sessions and retest players throughout the season to ensure workloads were aligned with the targets they had set.
“We then retested mid season to make sure that our numbers were where we thought they should be, and so far this season we haven’t seen the amount of hamstring injuries that we had last year.”
This proactive approach to monitoring player load has helped reduce injury risk while allowing the team to maintain performance levels across the season.

Combining Experience with Objective Data
While data plays an important role in Rosario FC’s performance processes, the coaching staff emphasise that it works best when combined with traditional coaching insight and observation.
Performance data provides an additional layer of understanding that helps confirm what coaches already see during matches and training.
“It’s great to back up your eyes, what your eyes think you’re telling you, but you’re able to then get that whole picture from data, from numbers, from maps.”
By bringing together observation and objective measurement, the staff can have more constructive conversations with players and help them better understand their individual performance.
“You can speak to an individual player and say, the way we were telling you on Saturday you didn’t do or you were doing well there’s proof. There’s evidence to back it up and help them improve.”
Using Technology to Support Player Longevity
For Rosario FC, the introduction of STATSports has ultimately helped create a more informed approach to training, preparation, and recovery.
With better visibility over player workloads and clearer insights into performance output, the coaching staff can design training sessions that support long term player development while helping reduce injury risk.
By combining modern performance technology with coaching experience, the club continues to refine how it prepares players for the physical demands of the game.
